This process enables two or more video layers to be superimposed to create a scene.  This requires the use of certain instruments such as DVE (for deformation and position), colour correction and keys.  Plug-ins are often used for additional artificial details such as particle effects (smoke, flames, water spray etc.), colour effects, or to insert 2D or 3D objects not otherwise present within the scene, etc.
